Cockroach Labs Launches Instructor-Led Training Course: “CockroachDB Fundamentals for Application Development”

    Cockroach Labs has announced the availability of our new instructor-led training course, “CockroachDB Fundamentals for Application Development.” This course is the first in a series of live educational offerings from Cockroach Labs, designed to ensure that organizations make the most of CockroachDB. 

    Taught in-person or virtually by expert CockroachDB educators, “CockroachDB Fundamentals for Application Development” is a four-day, hands-on experience featuring many rigorous lab exercises. The course is available for private delivery on site or virtually to a maximum class size of 12. All attendees will receive a voucher to take a CockroachDB professional certification exam when they become available a little later this year.

    “CockroachDB Fundamentals for Application Development” is designed for application development teams and others using CockroachDB who are responsible for database schema, application performance, and SQL statement performance. 

    This course addresses key differences between CockroachDB and other relational databases, instructing on best practices for design of application code, SQL queries, and database schema. In addition, attendees will learn how to design performant SQL statements and transactions, plus how to tune performance to get the most out of CockroachDB. 

    Topics include:

    • The CockroachDB key-value store

    • Primary key best practices

    • Secondary index best practices

    • SQL statement tuning

    • Identifying bottleneck SQL statements

    • Tuning to correct bottleneck SQL statements

    • Transaction fundamentals

    • Optimizing transactions

    • Advanced best practices for transactions
